2024 Mixes

Thrown together to get them done. 

Disc 1
1. Oscar Winning Tears (Live at the Royal Albert Hall) - RAYE. Seemed like a good way to start. 

2. Femininomenon - Chappell Roan. Ah yes. So much Chappell Roan. 
3. Disease - Lady Gaga. I'm so happy she's back to weird. 
4. Sinner - The Last Dinner Party. Definitely my favorite album of the year. 
5. Dirty Little Secret - Kat Robichaud. One of my all time favorites of Kat's. Yes, it's about Spike.
6. Bad Boyfriend ('23 remix) - Garbage. Does this sound very different? Who cares.
7. Hello (2024) - Poe. This does. 
8. Pink Pony Club - Jonathan Young. Obviously, with its success came many covers. Hildegard has a great one, but I figured some metal for this mix. 
11. A Bar Song - Shaboozey. I knew Shaboozey from Beverly Hills originally, so I went to see him live and it was right about the time this song hit the fifth week at number one? And he did the most amazing thing, he played it last (obviously) and when it finished, he just started it over it sang it fully through a second time. *chef's kiss*
18. obsessed - Olivia Rodrigo. Bless her for releasing some more old-school alternative.

Disc 2
1. One Nation Underdogs - Royal and the Serpent

7. Everything is Romantic - Charli xcx. Aw. Remember brat summer?
12. Little Foot Big Foot ft. Young Nudy - Childish Gambino

14. BODYGUARD - Beyoncé. Given that Daddy Lessons is my second favorite Beyoncé song, I was somewhat excited for her country album and it just didn't grab me (although I found it intriguing how much of it eschewed traditional song structures.) Anyways, this was my favorite (although the Texas Hold 'Em Pony Up Remix and America Has a Problem/Thriller mashup - which seems to have been removed - were also okay). 
18. If You Really Love Nothing - Interpol. Not sure how I missed this one when it came out


Disc 3
3. My Kink is Karma - Chappell Roan. The first Chappell Roan song I heard back at the start of February. 
7. Merry Christmas, Please Don't Call - Bleachers. I did not really mean to put those artists back-to-back.
8. I Wanna Go to Marz (ft. Midlake) - John Grant. I finally, FINALLY got around to watching Weekend. I'm still verklempt. 
9. Give Me Everything - Archer Marsh. Look, at least there's this silver lining from that hate watch. 
19. Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 49: 1. Molto allegro e agitato (Mendelssohn) - Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman & Emanuel Ax. I finally, finally made it to the symphony's chamber pieces at the Legion of Honor in January of 2024 and this was my favorite of the pieces they played
20. Sally's Song - Hildegard von Blingin'. I love her voice and I was thrilled when she finally covered her namesake for 1 million subscribers (coming next/this year)
21. Cattails - Jonathan Meiburg. My favorite of the mangled classics for the year
22. Love My Way - Garbage. Speaking of covers
23. Famous Last Words (An Ode to Eaters) ft. 1017 ALYX 9SM - Ethel Cain. LOOK ETHEL JUST MAKES REALLY GOOD CLOSING SONGS I DON'T MAKE THE RULES

Disc 4 
Is this disc just squeezing in a bunch of brat? A little.
11. Talk talk - Charli xcx (Truth be told, I've never liked anything she's done as much as You're the One, and I wish she'd do more darkwave.)
13. LSDXOXO + Anal house (Not The Original) + Quadral23 - Q&A (Mashup by VTSS). Do I remember why this was going around again? Not really. 
15. Eusexua (ft. Eartheater) - FKA Twigs (Also, Drums of Death wasn't my favorite of the singles released before the album, but I do love the video.)
16. Good Girls (John Carpenter Remix) - CHVRCHES. I missed this when it originally came out.
